Moths can be bastards

Oh, autumn-winter! You are a wonderful time of year!

Time to get out the woolens. All the beautiful jumpers that can't be worn in the warmer months.

Unfortunately, sometimes, you get out less than you put away. Because some sort of malevolent creature has noshed on your best warmer.

What does one do? Panic? Cry? Curse? Yes, perhaps. Throw it away and buy a new one? Are you joking?

No. We gotta learn to darn, guys.

Actually, it's not that hard. A little tricky, and nigh impossible if you have poor vision close-up or a lack of dexterity.. but otherwise, a needle, some matching (or almost-matching, or contrasting, depending on your tastes) thread.. and you're ready to go. You can watch these videos (found on youtube, I've not filmed my own as yet.. though that may change this week), you can wing it, or you can look it up for yourself.

It may not look perfect. It may not go exactly right. But it will be something you have done, a skill you'll improve gradually, and you can wear it with pride.

Tomorrow: Shots of the jumper I just finished darning!
